Alaskan king bed size: 108 × 108 in, and the other oversized kings
An Alaskan king mattress is 108 × 108 in (9 × 9 ft, 274.3 × 274.3 cm), the size AlaskanKingBeds.com calls its original. A Wyoming king is 84 × 84 in and a Texas king is 80 × 98 in, 80 wide and 98 long. A 96 × 96 in size sits between them, sold as Alberta king, Vermont king or Alaskan King Mini. None of these is a standard: Purple says oversized mattresses are usually made to order, and one maker sells eight sizes under the Alaskan king name. The table below puts them all next to the King and California king.

AlaskanKingBeds.com lists eight sizes on its FAQ, from 96 × 96 in to 156 × 108 in, and says it can make any size you need. Engineered Sleep offers the Texas king in two orientations, 80 × 98 in and 98 × 80 in. Purple's comparison table prints the Texas king as 98 in long and 80 in wide, but its text calls it "98 inches wide" and says "98-by-80 inches". When a listing says Texas king, check which side runs head to foot before you order a frame.

The smallest rectangle that holds the mattress plus a 30 in walkway. Retailers print larger room sizes, and they disagree with each other; their figures are in the last column for comparison.

Walkway: Which? says to aim for at least 2ft 6in (76 cm) between the sides and foot of the bed and the nearest wall or furniture; the 2010 ADA Standards (305.3 and 806.2.3) require a clear floor space 30 in wide on both sides of a bed in accessible hotel rooms. Both were read on 2026-09-25. We work out each room size by adding 30 in to the bed width for each open side and 30 in to its length at the foot. The headboard wall needs no walkway. Allow extra space for bedside tables, door swings and a wardrobe.

Buying an oversized king
Purple says oversized mattresses are usually made to order and are unlikely to be in stores, and that the mattress and its accessories usually have to be custom-ordered. Order the frame and sheets by the exact inches in the table, and ask the seller which side runs head to foot for a Texas king.
